Labour’s victory in byelection ‘a clear message to Sunak’, says Starmer

After Labour swept to victory in the City of Chester by-election, Sir Keir Starmer stated that Rishi Sunak and the Tories had “run out of road.”

The Labour leader said the people of Chester had sent Mr. Sunak a “clear message” that they are “fed up” during his visit to Glasgow today.

“There is this strong sense that the Government has run out of road, run out of ideas, has no mandate, and it’s time for change,” he said.

With a swing of more than 13% from the Tories to Labour, Samantha Dixon, the Labour candidate, was successful in retaining her City of Chester seat, bringing the party’s margin to almost 11,000 votes.
