Job Title: Director of Finance (Charity Finance Executive – Ministry )

We are looking for two Director of Finance to work with Christ Apostolic Church Pilgrims Tabernacle, Bethnal Green, London.

We are a warm and welcoming congregation living and worshipping in a large and lively place. Our ministry has been growing in recent times and we are now seeking a Full time Director of Finance (Charity Finance Executive – Ministry) to join our team to take responsibility finance ministry.

Reporting to – Senior Pastor

Travel – Occasional travel in UK

Wages: £12;55 per hour

Working for a Christian Charity Organization in London as a Charity Finance Team Leader

Must hold a Bachelor Degree as a minimum qualification and one year of experience in Church ministry within CAC/Pentecostal Settings.

The role will be to drive the strategic financial direction and oversee the financial health of the Christ Apostolic Church Pilgrims Tabernacle. This leadership role would play a crucial part in shaping the financial framework that underpins our charity’s mission and initiatives, ensuring effective stewardship of resources for the flourishing of our Church ministry and long-term sustainability of our mission. We are looking for a candidate that can provide leadership that extends to managing a dedicated Finance & Giving Team. Your primary goal will be to establish and maintain modern and robust financial systems, policies, and practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of financial transparency and accountability. You will report directly to the Senior Pastor to work with our team of the Church organization for the smooth running of our ministry activities. Plans and oversees implementation of accountancy system and policies; prepares financial documents and reports for management, shareholders, statutory or other bodies; audits accounts and book-keeping records; prepares tax returns, advises on tax problems and contests disputed claim before tax official; conducts financial investigations concerning insolvency, fraud, possible mergers, etc.; evaluates financial information for management purposes; liaises with Church management and other professionals to compile budgets and other costs; prepares periodic accounts, budgetary reviews and financial forecasts; conducts investigations and advises the Church management on financial aspects of productivity.

Role:

  • Be part of a growing congregation and part-take in all ministry activities required to fulfil the organisation’s charity objectives.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and/or a degree in accountancy will be required.
  • Manage cash controls as well as maintain book-keeping up-to-date.
  • Understand charity accounting and gift aid processing.
  • Understand bid-writing and grants documentation.
  • Oversee the preparation of all financial statements, invoices, proposals, etc as required.
  • Ensure account receivables and payables activities are performed accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that financial transactions are properly updated and recorded.
  • Produce expense reports, and all others reports as requested by the Trustees
  • Ensure data integrity in all financial reporting.
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies and other financial related issues.
  • Review financial paperwork and procedures and make appropriate changes.
  • Engaging and encouraging other members, volunteers of the charity and others in the community to commit to the programs and activities of the Charity.
  • Promote the activities of the Church within the Community and be a good Christian ambassador in all transactions.
  • To assist the Lead Pastors with required administrative details of required ministry projects.
  • Maintaining and updating Church databases
  • Promoting the charity’s vision and objectives within the local community, documenting and communicating feedback to the administrator, departmental leaders and the trustees of the Charity.
  • Assist in managing office supplies stock and placing orders.
  • Updating office financial policies as needed
  • Any other task as directed by the lead Pastors.

  • Ability to work on New Projects that will help to deliver the Charity objectives.
  • Proven finance and database experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Knowledgeable in accounting and book-keeping software
  • Knowledge of managing charity finances
  • Proficiency in Social Media Platforms
  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail
  • Initiative, flexibility and self-motivation.
  • Confidence, diligence, and approachability
  • Timely and efficient with ministry tasks assigned to them.

  • Knowledge of presentation software, such as PowerPoint. Knowledge of copyright law necessary.
  • Comfortable working in a church setting.
  • Leadership, interpersonal and time management skills necessary as this is a leadership position.
  • Ability to work with all people from children to senior citizens.
