Learners who plan to take their driving tests this month may encounter disruptions.

This month, there is a possibility of disruption for learner drivers who intend to take their practical driving tests as examiners are set to go on strike across the country. Members of the PCS union, who are civil servants, are planning to hold 11 days of industrial action that will affect test centers. This includes 10 days of regional walkouts and one day of national walkout.

The DVSA has issued a warning that some driving tests may be cancelled, and individuals impacted by this will receive direct communication. Nonetheless, not all driving test instructors are part of the PCS union, and even those who are may not necessarily participate in the strike.

The DVSA has provided a comprehensive list of the test centers that are anticipated to be affected by the upcoming strike action. Learner drivers have the option to reschedule their tests to a later date, but they must provide a minimum of three “clear days’ notice” to avoid any additional charges.

The list of impacted test centers and the corresponding dates are detailed below. However, the DVSA cautions that other driving test centers, not mentioned on the list, could also be affected, but this will only be known on the day of the strike action.
