Background
Cross Rhythms media run an FM radio station in Stoke-on-Trent, have sister stations in other cities,
are pioneering an online platform aimed at UK teenagers, called xRhythms, and manage a large
website presence. All of which carry advertising as income generating opportunities for the charity.

Reporting to
The Advertising Sales Assistant is managed by the Advertising Manager.
Job placement summary
The Advertising Sales Assistant is responsible for selling and managing advertising campaigns. You
will need to contact new potential clients to generate advertising leads and work with existing
clients. Advertising sales will cover the various Cross Rhythms platforms:
– FM Community Radio in Stoke on Trent and Newcastle under Lyme engaging with the wider
community but with a target audience of 20’s to 40’s.
– The xRhythms website, engaging with a teenage market on a national basis.
– The Cross Rhythms website with a national and international user base.
– Potentially selling on behalf of the Cross Rhythms group.
Responsibilities
Reporting to and liaising with the Advertising Manager.
Undertake training in Cross Rhythms advertising sales including ethos and procedures.
Contacting organisations to offer advertising for our different platforms along with follow up.
Liaise with clients to help manage campaigns on the radio and website, scripting radio adverts and
obtaining artwork for website adverts.
Building relationships with clients.
National clients and local clients.
Potential sales on behalf of the Cross Rhythms group.
Updating a record of calls and emails using the Cross Rhythms database system. Obtaining and
adding new contact details.
Note: Your Placement will take place at our HQ in Stoke-on-Trent, and we will aim to help you find
suitable accommodation if required. Additionally, in light of COVID restrictions, we may offer you to
undertake your Placement remotely/virtually, for all or part of the 6 months.
Skills, experience and qualifications
Friendly and socially confident and would like to pursue a career in sales. Strong verbal and written
communication skills, Computer literate, and Teamwork.
Employment support and training
You will be mentored, trained and supported by the Advertising Manager.
That support and training will help develop your skills to fulfil your role. You will learn how to use
any equipment and software relevant to your role and be given initial and ongoing training to
develop those skills.
You will have a good range of experience from lead generation and sales through to updating the
database and helping process radio and website adverts to completion.
You will gain of experience working in the media environment and develop skills in: hitting
deadlines, communicating with clients and team members, and managing campaigns.
In addition we will help to develop your CV writing skills, interview techniques, CPD skills and
communication and teamwork skills. You will also be enrolled on the Staffordshire Chambers of
Commerce Kickstart Network – this network will provide monthly networking events and CPD
development sessions once a month for your Kickstart placement, which will help you to develop
your employability skills as well as network with like-minded placements.
We will provide you with any equipment you might need to fulfil your role.
Working pattern and contracted hours
Part-time, 25 hours per week. Monday – Thursday, 10am – 5pm (including 45 minutes unpaid lunch).
Salary
National Minimum Wage/Living Wage as appropriate.
